THE BASICS

What is hockey stick weight?

Stick weight is the mass of the finished stick, usually stated in grams. A configuration target is the weight you request; a measured finished weight is the result for a particular stick under stated conditions.

For a useful comparison, record the player category, finished length and whether tape, a plug or other accessories are included. Comparing an uncut bare stick with a shortened, taped stick can hide the difference you are trying to assess.

ON THE ICE

What does stick weight affect?

Weight contributes to how a stick feels when moving, receiving a pass and handling the puck. Balance matters too: two sticks with the same total mass can feel different if that mass is distributed differently between shaft and blade.

Choose a target around a setup you already understand. Consider length, flex and construction together, and describe whether you want a different overall weight or a different balance. The lightest listed target is not automatically the best choice for every player.

Weight questions

Are the listed GWIND weights guaranteed finished weights?

No. The values below are configuration targets. Confirm the selected length, blade, materials, artwork and expected finished result with GWIND, including any agreed measurement conditions or tolerances.

Is a lighter hockey stick always better?

No. Handling preference, balance and the complete construction matter alongside the gram number. Compare sticks during the passing and shooting movements you use most often.

How should I compare the weight of two sticks?

Use the same scale and compare equivalent finished lengths and accessory states. Note whether each stick includes tape or an extension. Record balance impressions separately from the measured mass.

What should I include in a custom weight request?

State your player category, target grams, finished length and current stick reference. Include the curve and flex you want to keep, then confirm the available construction and sample measurement before ordering.
